We had some fantastic performances at our Billy Bragg tribute night.
The week of the Coalition Government’s spending review indicating difficult times ahead added to the sense that Bragg’s political songs are as relevant as ever. Sneezy T’s “How the left was lost” and Steve White’s “Right To Strike” were brilliantly received and summed up the mood in the room. Matthew Neel gave a beautiful re-working of “The Saturday Boy” and The Lucky Face gave a vitriolic performance of “Greetings to the New Brunette”.
Below you can see videos of Steve White & the Protest Family’s version of “To Have and Have Not’ and Nat the Hammer’s take on ‘Levi Stubbs Tears”.
