A Live Tribute to....
There was great excitement in Brighton on Saturday 18th May when Billy Bragg attended the Under The Influence showcase at Fitzherberts at The Alternative Escape (part of The Great Escape festival) and joined the acts onstage for a singalong of his hit “A New England”!

On Mon 21st Jan we finally paid tribute to Bob Dylan: Acts included: Mide, Dylan Walshe, Zeth Townsend, Phil Jordan, Jade Townsend, The Lucky Face and Nat The Hammer
On Mon 17th Dec we had our Xmas Party: Acts performed two of their own songs and one Festive track. Acts included: The Reverse, The Anti-Poet, Helen McCookerybook, Miranda Quammie, The Lucky Face, Paul Hawkins and Ruff John. In Nov 2012 we paid tribute to"Lost Indie Bands Of The 90's". We had some superb acts as well as an ace quiz!! I had the nerve racking but incredible experience of performing two Kingmaker songs whilst the drummer sat in the audience singing along! Other lost indie bands that were covered included: Mansun, Babybird, KulaShaker, The Auteurs, Teenage Fanclub (in the style of Flying Saucer Attack) & Therapy?
In Oct 2012 Guest host The Lucky Face took over curating Under The Influence for a fantastic tribute to Paul Weller. We had some superb acts as well as an ace Weller-quiz!! A selection of some of the performances from the night are now available to see on our youtube page.

Fast becoming North London’s premier acoustic night, “Under the Influence” @ the Boogaloo has really taken off in the last six months.
Essentially it’s a showcase for talented new songwriters to perform their own songs, yet there is a twist. Each month, every act that performs, plays two of their own songs and one cover version by the featured artist of the month.
