Morrissey UTI

For the third Under the Influence, we paid tribute to that most influential yet controversial English singer Morrissey.

When asked which Morrissey song he would play James Mckeown responded “You Better Find Out For Yourself”, well charming I thought, until it became clear during his outstanding performance (with Barney) that he meant the song of that name from “Vauxhall & I”. Alone Trooper used his loop pedals to staggering effect on “Some Girls Are Bigger than Others” while The Lucky Face made his second appearance at UTI playing “Ask”. Tom Mckean & The Emperors stunned the audience into silence with their beautiful version of “Please, Please, Please…”

Few artists divide an audience as much as Morrissey and James Saunders managed to channel this spirit of controversy with his truly unique and irreverent version of “Everyday is Like Sunday” that held half of the audience in rapture and the other half bemused amusement!
See an except of one of the most memorable performances UTI has seen below.
