In a suitably irreverent fashion, a selection of alternative, indie, folk and anti-folk acts celebrated Eurovision week by covering a Eurovision entry (past or present) as well as playing a couple of their own songs.
Undoubtedly this was a night quite unlike any previous Under The Influence event.
Each table in the audience represented a different country complete with laminated flag and voting slips.
I can’t promise that our complex voting system exactly mirrored Eurovision, yet each table had the chance to vote for their favourite cover of the night.
Third place was My Mate George with his great singalong version of “Waterloo”.
Second place went to The Lucky Face who complete with skirt ripping, produced a unique take on the Bucks Fizz entry “Making Your Mind Up”
A big congratulations must go to the winners of this years UTI alternative Eurovision trophy: Slate Islands, who bagged the much coveted Eurovision trophy.
Finally a very big thank you to all the other great acts that played great sets: The Big Fibbers, Falldownlooseleaf, Acton Bell, Collossal Youth, David Mosey & Nat The Hammer.
